GNX is Kendrick Lamar’s victory lap in every sense of the word over this battle with Drake. It was a tour de force of the Californian hip-hop legacy. The Tupac flows on ‘reincarnated’, the TDE oral history over ‘the heart pt.6’ , going Super Sayan to the mustard tag on ‘tv off’. Even name dropping Snoop Dogg and saying he’s upset with him is showing that Kendrick is like, ‘cmon man’, on his album.

And he had that awesome pop-up show! You know who is not having a pop-up show? Yeah, it’s the dude burning in fucking lava. How could we have known that Toronto’s moment in the spotlight, the moment this city’s hip-hop could have been cemented, would be in the hands of the Certified “Lover-Boy” (his quotes, not mine).
